Shopping for clothes can be tricky if you’re skinny AND tall. To give you perspective, I’m about 5’10 and weigh about 46 kilograms (I can see you laughing and that’s rude. Nah, only messing, you’re cool). Either shirts fit well but are short in length, or perfect in length but the fitting is too loose. When you’re looking for pants, either they fit you in length, or in the waist. Getting a perfect fit on both those parameters is as much a struggle as finding an Indian pace bowler who is both quick, and consistent.
Every picture that you ever post on any social medium has a reference to your weight? Welcome to the club!
Childhood picture: “Wow, you used to weigh more as a kid hahahaha”
Picture at a scenic location: “Hope someone’s catching you, don’t want you to fly away :P”
Suit picture: “Hehe the suit makes you look a bit bulky”
Picture with Elena Isinbaeva: “Great to see the Olympic legend and her pole”
Picture with Donald Trump: “Your skinny hands go really well with his tiny fingers”
Everyone you meet has an opinion on how you can gain weight. “You need to have two bananas every day.” says the neighbor aunt. “Cheese, paneer and sprouts, that’s what you need my friend” says the office colleague. Obviously, you have to pretend that you are really interested and will definitely try out all suggestions you get every 84 seconds from different people around you. But let’s face it, we all have tried a “lot” and know exactly how difficult it is to gain weight. Sometimes, it’s even hereditary and you can’t really help it as much as you would like to. Anyway, I’m past that stage now, I just gained 30 kilos in one evening.
