THOUGHTS ON TRUMP WIN
I woke up on 9 Nov 2016 with a very heavy heart, feeling sad and disappointed. I guess, I had never realized what Hillary Clinton's win would mean until she didn't. Donald Trump won, and while this comes as a shock to me, my family and my friends, the reality is HE WON. There are still many people out there who would rather have this man as the President than a more qualified woman and that is disheartening. It really is...the fact that in spite of all our efforts, social media, discussions, we all failed.
“And to all the little girls who are watching this, never doubt that you are valuable and powerful and deserving of every chance and opportunity in the world to pursue and achieve your own dreams.” - Hillary Rodham Clinton
But does that mean that it is really over for us? It does not, it is not over, we need to continue even more than before. This result has not only shocked us but also opened our eyes to what people actually think. We may not have come as far along as we think, we have progressed but not as much as we think. And that only means that we have to work even harder in making our voices heard. This is the time to come together and fight for what we believe in - A world with equal rights for women, equal place for women and a country where the thought of a female President does not scare its men. So lets fight this fight not only on Instagram and Twitter but also in our own communities. Lets support and love each other, let our voices be heard and raise our voices for those who need help. We have come this far and we can only go ahead from here.
