ALL ABOUT GEOMETRY

ALL ABOUT GEOMETRY

Geometry has always played a key role in influencing artists and designers all around the world, be it fashion, architecture or anything else. The early traces of geometric art can be found in Greek art that exhibited angular motifs and shapes, which further inspired many artists and designers to create genius works of art. The world of fashion didn’t keep its eyes shut from the much adorned geometric art either and till date, geometry has played a key role in inspiring designers. Talk about boxy silhouettes, geometric/angular prints, stripes or anything else, geometry is everywhere. Design and geometry are so closely related that truly, one cannot exist without another.

I am writing this post to highlight the importance of geometry not just in fashion, but in so many other things that we see in our daily life. Often, we do not realize how so many things can be co-related, like geometry and fashion but it’s beautiful to see how everything works out its way in life eventually. Back in school, I would always complain about studying geometry as I never understood what use it would be of. Of course, I had no idea that it was in reality, so closely related to my favorite subject, Fashion & Arts.

This dress from Metisu, takes me back to my school days, when life was all about compass, pencils and books. Clothes can be so nostalgic sometimes but it’s such a good thing that such materialistic objects can take you back in time for you to relive and experience the most precious moments in life, right?
