YOUR GUIDE TO VACATION DRESSING
It's the best time of the year, It’s vacation time! The official season of jet-packing vacay times has begun worldwide but before we leave for the wonderland, we need to discuss something important – the vacation dressing guide. Vacation packing is not for the lighthearted, it takes expert skills to pack and fit everything in that one tiny bag and yet keep room for the additional shopping we dream of doing while on our vacays. So let’s get down to business, keep your notepad handy, sisters.
1. How to pack clothes
The number 1 thing you need to do before you go anywhere is check the weather and pack accordingly. June to September is a pretty pleasant time across the world but it is still mandatory to check the weather and pack as per the requirements. Keep clothes that you can repeat like this DVF coral Tiana skirt I wore during my trip to Smokey Mountain in USA. It’s comfortable and chic and the coral color goes well with white & black both, the usual color choices for tops. The off-shoulder top too can be mixed and matched with other items plus it’s cotton and it’s bare shoulder so bye bye sweat! Bonus Tip: Roll your clothes instead of folding them to save up on space and accommodate more stuff like shoes and bags.
2.One amazing pair of sunglasses
Do not leave that doorstep before you keep a swanky pair of sunglasses in your bag. I kept my all time favorite Karen Walker Super Duper sunglasses with me for my trip; to be honest, I always keep them with me no matter what. Whether you go to a beach or the mountains, sunglasses are an absolute must-have. They save your eyes for all the unnecessary damage, make you look chic plus save you the trouble of wearing eye makeup.
3. A hat
You know what they say…you’re not on holiday unless you’re wearing a hat. This is particularly true if you’re vacationing on a beach destination. You goddamn well need a hat to protect that beautiful face from sun-damage and also to keep up with the whole touristy thing. I chose this J.Crew fedora for the same reason.
4. One good bag
This is an essential and do not make the mistake of carrying your city bag for your vacation unless you’re really just planning to spend all your time in the city. Take a bag that you’re most comfortable with, one that has some pockets inside so you can keep your documents/cash/passport properly. A wicker bag makes the perfect companion for beach, a sling bag for the city and a backpack for the mountains!
5. Comfortable shoes
Great shoes take you great places and comfy shoes take you everywhere. Do not make the mistake of taking shoes that look amazing but give you shoe bites or are not the best option for walking on your vacation. Choose your shoe style depending on your location, moccasins or loafers are good picks for city, sneakers are good almost everywhere, and flat sandals for beaches. I wore these tie-up sandals as we walked through the streets of Gatlinburg, Tennessee.
