EMILY SAUNDERS F/W 2016 - NOMADIC MEETS URBAN
The New York based designer, Emily Saunders always manages to beautifully reflect her Glocal (Global + Local) influences through her line, Saunder. The Fall/Winter 2016 collection was no less, it offered a beautiful blend of an ancient Greek myth and the seventies glamour with a touch of the sixties rock n' roll.
The inspiration came from an ancient Greek myth of Theseus & Minotaur and the same was portrayed by a group of performers who kept the show going as the models took a break for a quick change. While bronze tones ruled most of the collection, the toga silhouettes & shapes and the flowing skirts reminded one of the Grecian goddesses. The rock n' roll theme was well demonstrated in the details with big tie-up bows, velvet textures and the combination of duak-toned colors in one outfit. Several pieces from the collection could easily transition from day to night outfits but what caught the eye most was a feather dress in bright canary yellow hue, it certainly has the potential to bring youthful vibes to any red carpet.
The amalgamation of two different sides of the world was fiercely reflected through the collection which offers an urban-nomadic vibe to the chic-city girl's wardrobe.
