AAGOR - LAKME FASHION WEEK WINTER/FESTIVE 2016

AAGOR - LAKME FASHION WEEK WINTER/FESTIVE 2016

CONTEMPORARY. MINIMALISM. HANDLOOM.

When a designer/brand decides to promote the local artisans, you know they are on to something really good. The Aagor winter/festive 2016 collection was an amalgamation between women weavers from Assam and Aditi Holani (Gen-next designer). The outcome of this uncanny collaboration was a fun, contemporary and wearable collection that has its roots in the Indian handicrafts & handlooms but also has a young & modern vibe.

Simple, clean, relaxed silhouettes with subdued earthy tones made a case for sophisticated minimalism. What's brilliant about this collection is the empowerment meets fashion attitude, which is clearly reflected in the collection. For a nation that has a heavy chunk of artisanal population which depends on the handicraft for their day-to-day living, it is imperative that more & more designers/brands adapt this symbiotic relationship, just like Aagor did.
