Lakme Fashion Week W/F '16 might just be over but the excitement ain't over yet. It was a season full of captivating collections, hair-raising beauty trends (literally) and some impeccable new talent. While the hustle and bustle carried on all five days long, we decided to pick some of the crowning moments for you. And if you think this is just another round up of runway images, you're partially wrong! How? Scroll down to find out
1. FASHION MEETS TECHNOLOGY
One of the earlier highlights of the LFW included the Manish Malhotra's show, where fashion met technology. The famous Indian couturier, Manish Malhotra, remarkably blended the two inseparable facets of fashion to create a collection extra-extraordinaire. The collection was a testament to the undeniable impact, the digital world has created in the Indian & global fashion scenarios. The final outfit worn by showstopper, Shraddha Kapoor, was an ode to Indian artisanship and the ever-growing digital influence alike.
2. SUSTAINABLE FASHION TAKES CENTER-STAGE
Day 2 of Fashion Week was unequivocally a celebration of Indian textiles & hand-looms, as several talented designers from across the country, showcased prodigious sustainable wear collections. Fashion consumers are evolving by the day and are become more & more conscious & aware of the choices they make. LFW's much-celebrated 'Handloom day' is a step in the right direction to approach & encourage designers who believe in designing with a cause. The 'Runaway Bicycle' collection, showcased on the same day, stole the hearts of many, with it's 'Working hours' theme. You can read more about their collection here.
3. HAIR-RAISING TRENDS
Can any fashion week story be complete without the beauty/hair trends? No, absolutely no! Tresemme weaved magic with the super-stunning hair trends for the Ashish Soni show. Proving that big is always better, Tresemme gave the models long & luscious manes that glazed with big-bouncy curls. The hair looked so glorious, it would've put Rapunzel to shame.
4. A LOVE-AFFAIR WITH METALLICS
Metallics have always been a big part of fashion weeks but seldom do we see a collection deigned for beach/resort wear that brings in metallics as beautifully as the Shivan & Narresh show did. Themed 'Beach Bulletin', the collection was a true celebration of mystical romance & dramatic glamour. The designer duo put on a great show for their audience, with feet-tapping music and a beach-like vibe that was created for the show.
Now that this season's over, we're even more curious to know what the next season will bring our way.
