4 REASONS TO EAT ORGANIC FOOD
Before moving on to that part where we convince you to eat organic food, let's discuss what organic food exactly is! Simply put, organic food is nature's produce or food that is not enhanced artificially. Organic food is produced without any use of synthetic pesticides, GMOs (genetically modified organisms), sewage sludge or petroleum based fertilizers. The crops/plants are grown in natural soil without the use of above stated items and the animals are not given any growth hormones or antibiotics. So basically, it's all the good stuff that nature provides to you first hand without the addition of harmful chemicals and artificial substances. Why would you say no to such goodness, right? If the above was not enough reason for you to go organic, read along - we've got some more compelling reasons that might change your mind.
1. MORE NUTRITION, LESS TOXINS
Stating the obvious here, no artificial substances mean no toxins. Organic food are more nutritious as they have no chemicals or synthetic substances that have been used to enhanced their growth or characteristics. The more chemicals you put in your body, the more toxins your body generates and seriously why would you want to eat any fruits/vegetables that have been artificially enhanced just to sell on time?!
2. SAVE THE SOIL, SAVE THE EARTH
Do you know how much pollution is caused each year because of all the synthetic pesticides and fertilizers that are put into the soil to make the crops grow faster? According to Cornell entomologist David Pimentel, it is estimated that only 0.1% of applied pesticides reach the target pests. The bulk of pesticides (99.%) is left to impact the environment. So if you use these foods on daily basis, imagine how much you are contributing towards polluting the environment and for what, more toxins to go inside your body? Not worth it at all, no way!
3. ENJOY THE REAL TASTE, THE BETTER TASTE
No prizes for guessing, anything that has no artificial substances tastes better than its synthetically modified counterparts. For the love of your tastebuds, turn organic already!
4. PRESERVE THE BIO-DIVERSITY
Organic farming is basically farming in harmony with nature, where you don't disturb the ecological balance. All the organisms that stay inside the soil are adversely affected by the addition of harmful pesticides, even the animals that produce poultry and dairy foods are many a times injected with growth hormones and other antibiotics just to yield faster results. And what good does it do? Absolutely nothing, so why not switch to the cruelty free and harmonious way of consuming food that actually has more benefits, right?
